Local Woman Arrested for Stealing from Grocery Store

On Sunday, April 22nd,2012 at around 12:53 pm, Seneca Falls Police Dept. received a complaint of a theft ( shoplifting ) from a local grocery store located in the Town of Seneca Falls. A description of the suspect vehicle, along with the plate, was also reported. Seneca Falls Police located the vehicle travelling east on West Bayard St. and stopped the suspect vehicle. Police offiicers observed many grocery items in the back of the van. The driver, Sally A. Steele, age 53, of 20 Washington St, Seneca Falls was found to have a revoked NYS driver’s license and was charged at that time with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd degree, a misdemeanor. The grocery items were taken into the custody of the police department for investigation.  After further investigation by the Seneca Falls Police Department, Steele was charged on 04/26/12 with Petit Larceny. It is alledged that Steele stole $175.84 worth of groceries from the  store. Steele was issued appearance tickets for both charges and is to appear in the Town of Seneca Falls court on May 10th, 2012 at 10:00 am to answer to the charges.
