Local Man Accused of Identify Theft

Seneca Falls Police arrested James G. Porto, age 52, of 161 W. Bayard St., Apt. 8, Seneca Falls, NY on November 6th, 2014 at about 3:30pm for 2 Counts of Identity Theft in the First Degree (Class D Felony).  It is alleged that Porto opened two credit cards using another persons identity in November of 2013 and May of 2014 and used the fraudulently obtained credit cards to make purchases totaling nearly $10,000.  Porto was arraigned in Seneca Falls Town Court and was ROR’d.  He is to re-appear in town court on December 10th at 10am.  An Order of Protection was issued for the victim.
