Man Attempts Burglary in Seneca Falls, Arrested on Multiple Charges

On September 25th, 2012 Seneca Falls Police arrested David F. Eckert, age 31, of 679 Filkins Road, Newark, New York, 14513. Eckert was charged with Attempted Burglary in the 3rd degree, Criminal Mischief in the 3rd degree, and two counts of Petit Larceny. This arrest stems from an investigation into three incidents that took place on the night of September 5th, 2012 into the early morning hours of September 6th, 2012. It is alleged that Eckert failed to pay a bar tab at a local establishment and then proceeded to leave the area. Eckert then proceeded over the Ovid Street Bridge and into the Sackett Business District where he then attempted to break into DA’s Liquor Store by throwing an object at the front glass door. It is also alleged that Eckert had stolen items out of a car parked along the road on West Bayard Street after attempting to break into the Liquor Store. Eckert was placed under arrest at the Seneca Falls Police Department and was transported to Seneca Falls Town Court
where he was arraigned in front of acting Justice Mattoon. Eckert was committed to the Seneca County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2500 cash bail, $5000 ins bond. Eckert is to appear in Seneca Falls Town Court on October 1st, 2012 at 10:00am for his next hearing.
